Southend Barge Match 2025
This year's Southend Barge Match will take place on Saturday July 26th.
High water at Southend will be 1430 BST, so we plan to start the race around 1230 from a start line off Thorpe Bay Yacht Club.
We will sail an inshore course involving a race mark positioned off Jubilee Beach as last year, subject to weather conditions. The course will be decided nearer the date, based on the weather forecast.
There will be a prizegiving ashore in the evening at the Thorpe Bay Yacht Club.
Barges are likely to arrive the previous day (High water 1347), or on the morning of the match.

Note for barges:
We are dependent on barges returning their trophies the year after they win them.
However, this is not always the case, where barges do not attend, and this leads to last minute substitutions which are not always documented, when cups are not returned for a race.
Since COVID we have found that most of our trophies have not been returned.
Missing trophies are:
Alexandra Yacht Club Perpetual Trophy
Southend-non-Sea County Borough Perpetual Trophy
Southend-on-Sea Yachting Week
Scholfield Perpetual Trophy
Silvertown Services Literage Ltd., Perpetual Trophy
Southend Barge Match Perpetual Trophy
Geoff Dawson Perpetual Trophy
We would ask that owners and crew check whether they have still got any of these trophies in their possession, so we can return to having a complete set of trophies for our matches.
